Schedule Exceptions added to Staff Member profiles will override existing weekly recurring Schedules and Schedule Templates. Since they will replace existing availability as opposed to adding it, Schedule Exceptions should be used when opening a closed day or changing available Appointment times for a specific day.
Schedule Exceptions are available when using any version of the DaySmart Appointments scheduling system. Only one Schedule Exception is allowed per day for each staff profile when using the Single Appointment per Time Slot version. Multiple exceptions may be added when using the Multiple Appointments per Time Slot version.
How to add Schedule Exceptions
- Click Staff Members
- Select a profile from the list
- Click Schedule Exceptions
- Select the Date, Start Time, and End Time
- Click Add
Note: If the Multiple Appointments Per Time Slot version is enabled for your account, you will need to use the Quick or Manual time slot creators for step 4.
Note: Schedule Exceptions will not show if a Staff Member is marked as a Day Off on the da of the exception.

When I schedule an exception for myself under my login, it doesn't allow me to book an appointment (which is right). However, sometimes our receptionists (who use their own login) schedule appointments for us. After multiple tests, even though I've made a schedule exception to not be available, I still show up as an option available for an appointment. Why is it allowing another person to create an appointment for me?
Marissa – I noticed to added a support ticket about this issue. I’ll follow up with you through the ticket system so we can get this issue resolved.
I can schedule an exception for myself, but it will not let me have an event during a scheduled exception. I am would like to have a series of events all during exception times and the event time start date in the drop down menu only has 9-5 (our locations open hours) as available start times. Can I change this?
Hi Meghan,
Schedule Exceptions should only be used to create schedules for appointments. You might need to change the Open Hours in the Settings section of your account if the event start times you need to create are not visible.
